Classes in general health education, childbirth and parenting, mind/body medicine, health and wellness screenings, and support groups are offered on a regular basis. Supporting Families Experiencing Perinatal Loss: Genetic Counseling, Palliative Care and the Next Pregnancy
Prenatal Screening Class: A certified genetic counselor will discuss the tests that are available in pregnancy to
screen for genetic conditions such as Down syndrome and cystic fibrosis. These tests include ultrasound and blood
tests including the first trimester screen, AFP screen, and cystic fibrosis carrier screen. This class is open to
expectant Mothers and their partners, who are currently in the first trimester of pregnancy (before 13 weeks) and at
low risk to have a baby with a genetic condition.
Cost: $0.00. 1st Wednesday 5-6pm and 3rd Thursday 12-1pm. Maternity Conference Room.

Breastfeeding - Certified Lactation Consultants introduce expectant Mothers and their partners to the advantages of breastfeeding, proper techniques, and what to expect in the first few weeks at home. Further discussion includes choosing a breast pump, and collection and storage of breast milk. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Maternity Tour - Free tour of the maternity unit at the Elliot Hospital. This is designed for women who are NOT taking a labor series. Meet in main lobby of the hospital. Children will be welcomed if no other arrangements can be made. Saturdays - 10am and 12pm Wednesdays – 5:30pm

Labor Series - This Childbirth Education series prepares the expectant mother and her partner for all aspects of labor and birth. This series will include knowledge of the natural labor process, as well as a variety of coping measures, ranging from relaxation and breathing, to available medical options. A tour of the Maternity Center will be included. Schedule this class at 28-30 weeks. This series meets one night per week for 5 weeks. Parenting Your Newborn - This class helps prepare parents for their new baby and their transition into parenthood. Parents-to-be will learn about normal newborn appearance and behaviors, procedures after birth, basic care of their newborn, and changes in life as a new parent.

Sibling Class – This class prepares children (2 ½ -9 YRS) on becoming a sibling. They will participate in activities to learn about the baby and their new role in the family. A tour of the Maternity Center is included.
9-10:30am class 5-9 year olds. 11am – 12pm class 2 ½ - 4 year olds. Cost: $15.00

Body Balance – This class is a combination of low-impact aerobics, strength training and stretching. It is a perfect combination to improve muscular and cardio endurance, along with gentle stretching, to enhance overall well-being. Participants will increase their balance, as well as flexibility, while working out in a senior friendly environment. Cost: $45.00 for 8 weeks

Cardio Sculpt - A well balanced mix of cardio movements, strength training, balance and stretching exercises. Designed to increase stamina, as well as overall strength; ending with a relaxing mix of stretches to improve range of motion. Cost: $55.00 for 8 weeks
9:00-10:00am (Monday & Wednesday)
Chair Aerobics Plus – This class consist of cardiovascular exercises that begin in the chair and progress to standing exercises while utilizing the chair for balance. Appling cardio and strength training for endurance and ending with gentle flow movements to improve range of motion and mobility; a great beginners program designed for seniors. Cost: $55.00 for 8 weeks
11:30am-12:15pm (Monday & Wednesday)
Fusion- This class is a dynamic mix of exercises all in one program, beginning with cardio movements to increase cardiovascular health, followed with strength training from head to toe to improve muscular endurance and ending with basic pilate and yoga moves to improve core strength and balance. Cost: $55.00 for 8 weeks
5:15–6:15pm (Tuesday & Thursday)
T’ai Chi Chih – A series of 19 movements and one pose that together make up a moving meditation that balances the vital energy within us, which the Chinese call chi. T’ai Chi Chih is easy to learn and does not require a particular level of physical fitness or coordination. The movements can be done by people of all ages and all ability levels, including those in wheelchairs. For those with physical limitations, movements may be done while seated – with some modification. No special clothing or equipment is needed. Gym Membership - The Elliot Senior Fitness Center is designed specifically for those 50 and older. The fitness center consists of cardiovascular equipment and a full body strength training circuit. One-on-one orientations as well as personalized exercise programs to fit individual needs. Our team of exercise specialist are here to help integrate physical activity safely into yours life. Come work out in a safe, supervised, fun and non-competitive environment. Membership is on-going and members may join at any time. Cost: $25.00 per month – Call 663-7016 to get started.
Fit and Feisty – This is a 60-minute low-impact aerobics class to music, with easy-to-follow moves, followed by strength training, floor exercises, chair exercises and toning work. For individuals 50+ Class location: Welliot at River’s Edge Cost: $50.00/8 week session

Gentle Yoga - Gentle Yoga is designed to promote total health and well-being through stretching, strengthening and relaxing. This class uses breath and movement to feel the release of physical and mental tension and to increase body/mind awareness. Good for the beginner. Strength and Tone – Start your day right with this total boy workout. Strength train all the major muscle groups and abs using a variety of exercise equipment. This class is ideal for beginners to advanced exercisers.

Thriving With Yoga - Thriving with Yoga is designed especially for those with the experience of cancer. It will empower you to: relieve tension and anxiety, rebuild strength and restore range of motion, witness emotion with compassion and manage the side effects of treatment and medications naturally. This includes lymphedema, hot flashes, neuropathy, pain, depression, and insomnia. The Welliot at River’s Edge Fitness center consists of treadmills, bicycles, elliptical, and a full body Nautilus strength training circuit. Certified fitness staff offer one-on-one orientations as well as personalized exercise programs to fit individual goals and limitations. Come work out in a safe, supervised, and non-competitive environment. Nursing coverage is available at certain times during the week. Heartsaver CPR - This course is designed to target all lay rescuers (school children, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death) and teach them basic life support for adults and pediatrics. Learn the skills needed to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and relieving Foreign-body airway obstruction (choking). Certification and AHA Textbook received. Anger Management Course -Elliot Behavioral Health Services is offering a 10-week course to help adults learn their individual anger styles, triggers, problem solving strategies and effective communication techniques.
Qualified psychotherapists will assist participants in developing a range of healthy techniques for changing behavior and managing their anger.
This 10-week course is $45 per session if paid in full on the day of the session or, $60 per session. Most insurance accepted as well as Medicaid.
