Important Notice:  Elliot Direct after hours nurse triage services are changing.  After August 22, 2011 our Triage Nurses will be available to assist you with your health concerns during the following hours:  Weekdays until 10 pm, Saturdays 8 am to 5 pm and Sundays 8 am to 3 pm.  If you need to speak with a nurse or doctor outside of these hours, or when the office is closed, please call this office.  The on-call doctor will return your call to assist you with your urgent healthcare concerns.

At Elliot Pediatric Gastroenterology, we provide the highest quality health care to the children and adolescents living in New Hampshire who have gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and nutritional issues, in a timely, caring, and respectful manner.

Our services include: the evaluation of children and adolescents with gastrointestinal, liver, pancreatic and nutritional diseases.  Procedures such as:  upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, treatment of intestinal bleeding, polypectomy, liver biopsy, anorectal manometry, foreign body removal and impedance studies are performed at Elliot Hospital.

Call your GI Nurse if You Have:

  • A fever of 101F or higher for greater than 24 hours.
  • New onset of abdominal pain that interrupts daily activities.  Your nurse will ask when it started, location and intensity of pain (on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the worst).  Does the pain wake you from sleep?
  • Unexplained weight loss or significant change in appetite.
  • Any change in bowel patterns.  Your nurse will ask about the number of stools per day, consistency (solid, loose, or watery) the amount, frequency and if you can see any blood.
  • Rectal pain and drainage (if any)
  • A rash, join pain, or swelling.
  • Had exposures to others who have had the flu, chicken pox or tuberculosis.
  • Please call with any questions or concerns.  We want you to feel confident managing your care.
  • When you call, have a list of all current medications that you take (name, dose, and frequency).  Include all prescription, over-the-counter and herbal meds.



    • Helpful Hints for Families

  • Please call as early in the day as possible.  This will allow us more time to talk with your doctor and review your plan of care.
  • We stive to provide quality care for all of our patients.  If you have an urgent need please make sure that you advise the staff when calling into the office so that we may get back to in an approprate amount of time.
  • Whenever possible please call 24 hours ahead of time for prescription refills.  Clearly state the medication name, dose, route, frequency, pharmacy, pharmacy phone number, and a phone number where you can be reached if we have any questions.
  • We will call families with all test results as soon as they are available and reviewed by the physician.  Results can sometimes take one to two weeks.
