Osteoporosis / Dexa Scanning Project

This population includes female EPN patients aged 65 and above. Our overall goal is to improve outreach and care to our EPN patients who have not had a dexa scan or screening for osteoporosis. 

The Elliot Physician Network currently follows and reports on dexa scans based on the following age groups and screening interval

Ages 65+ - at least one dexa scan in this age bracket

If a patient has a dexa scan before age 65 documented in their EPICare medical record, that result will satisfy the health maintenance topic

EPIC Support	Best Practice Alert appears and identifies patient as overdue for Dexa Scanning Protocol Health Maintenance Topic appears as overdue when patient reaches age 65 and Dexa Scan results have not been received into their EPICare medical record Monthly reports distributed to practices identifying patients overdue for testing
