Pediatric Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine

Dr. Dow offers an addition to traditional medical care for children. Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT) is a hands on approach to diagnosing and treating a variety of acute and chronic medical conditions.  These treatments can help to eliminate or reduce the need for medications in a variety of conditions as well as offer safe treatments for conditions that traditional medicine has little to offer. Treatments involve working typically with the muscles in a variety of ways and can involve various stretching techniques as well.

A variety of medical conditions can respond nicely to treatment including:

  • Musculoskeletal conditions including back pain, scoliosis, ankle sprains, sports injuries
  • Behavioral conditions: ADHD, behavioral issues, Anxiety, PTSD
  • Infectious conditions: Recurrent viral and bacterial infections such as colds, ear infections, sinus infections
  • Chronic constipation.
  • Occasionally bedwetting at later ages.
  • Colic
  • Asthma
  • Newborn feeding issues
  • Tension headaches

These techniques are safe and effective and Dr. Dow often will teach parents some to try at home.

Dr. Dow sees patients for the full scope of primary care as well as a consultant if needed.

Working with children is ideal as helping to treat conditions and restrictions early, before they become a set pattern, can help for a lifetime.

OMT is usually covered by insurance.

If this interests you, feel free to book an appointment today or come in for a complimentary appointment to find out more about what OMT can offer your child.

Flu Shot Clinic (For Current Patients Only)
Open Access Scheduling : Open Access Scheduling is a patient-friendly scheduling system that involves making fewer appointments ahead of time and allowing more same-day scheduling. This means access to same-day appointments for sick/urgent visits and routine follow-ups.

Weekend After Hours Clinic
Elliot Physician Network primary care providers staff a “Weekend After-Hours Clinic” on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Briarwood Primary Care (located near Elliot Hospital at 445 Cypress Street, Suite 5 in Manchester), allowing their patients the flexibility of being seen for acute matters over the weekend. A rotating schedule of on-call EPN providers will determine which doctor a patient sees at the clinic. If necessary, the physician on-call will follow up with the patient’s primary care provider. Patients access the clinic by calling their physician’s office. The Nurse or the on-call provider will discuss the patient’s symptoms and make a referral to the After-Hours Clinic.
