Elliot Behavioral Health Services Center
Recognizing a longstanding community need, Elliot Professional Services has developed a service dedicated to child and adolescent behavioral health. Parents, pediatricians and educators have struggled for years to understand the cognitive, emotional, learning needs and potential of children and adolescents. In an effort to access quality services, families have traveled to Boston and other cities to consult with professionals, obtain advice, and discuss concerns about their children. These quality services are now available locally through Elliot Behavioral Health Services, Center for Child and Adolescent Evaluation conveniently located in Bedford, New Hampshire. The Center for Child and Adolescent Evaluation is the only one of its kind in New Hampshire and is staffed by a team of mental health professionals who tailor both evaluation and treatment services to the individual needs of each child. Children who participate in neuropsychological evaluation will be provided with services to understand potential problems or issues such as learning disabilities, effects of traumatic brain injury, attention problems, and other memory and learning issues. Through understanding the psychological process that may effect learning, barriers to academic and social or emotional progress can be removed to help each child reach their maximum potential. Psychotherapy services, offered in Bedford, or through referral to the main campus of Elliot Behavioral Health Services, are available independently or in conjunction with other treatment modalities, to provide an integrated treatment approach to most problems. Medication evaluation and management services are designed to assess the individual child's potential need and ability to benefit from medication intervention in biologically based conditions that provide an effective and less intrusive treatment approach. Communication of results and consultation with parents, school, and other medical or mental health professionals ensures that specific interventions and treatment approaches are implemented within the child's family and school community, as appropriate.
