About the Elliot Breast Health Center The Elliot Breast Health Center is proud to offer the most comprehensive care to women in the community. We know that waiting weeks for mammography results may feel like a lifetime. Here, we offer digital mammography with immediate results. This prompt and definitive approach allows you to consult with dedicated breast health doctors and staff during your visit. Together, we determine the need for further testing and appropriate treatment options. . . . . . ![]() Many of our services are performed in our office such as genetic counseling while others, such as radiation therapy are offered at Elliot Hospital or other locations within Elliot Health System. Patients are encouraged to join support groups and have access to a wide variety of classes and complementary therapies to augment their care. • Be sure to bring all previous mammography films from original provider if they are not already on file at the Elliot. • Please arrive 15 minutes prior to appointment time to complete registration and insurance paperwork. • Some patients may require preapproval for specialty services, please check with your primary care provider and insurance carrier. During your first visit, you will meet with a breast health nurse specialist for intake history and assessment, and a surgeon or nurse practitioner for a complete focused breast examination. The surgeon or nurse practitioner may perform additional studies during your first visit. These studies may include ultrasound, and ultrasound guided biopsy. Each treatment plan is customized on an individual basis and your questions will be answered.
Teresa Ponn, MD, FACS Dr. Ponn joined the Elliot Breast Health Center in August 2006, previously practicing at the Yale Comprehensive Breast Center as Associate Director. She received her medical degree from the University of Florida in 1976 and completed her Internship and Residency at Stanford University. Dr. Ponn was formerly Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at Stanford University and Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Ponn was named “Best Doctors of New York” five years in a Row. Dr. Ponn is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She is a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons and Associate of Women Surgeons. .
Susan Buckley works with high-risk patients in the areas of breast cancer, abnormalities, fibrocystic breast disease, and hormone replacement therapy. She also conducts risk assessments and clinical trials. Prior to joining the Elliot Breast Health Center, Susan Buckley worked in internal medicine at Southern NH Internal Medicine Associates in Derry, NH. She received both her B.S. and Masters degrees at the University of Lowell, and is an adjunct professor at the University of New Hampshire and Massachusetts General. Ms.Buckley is also on Northern Essex Community College’s nursing program faculty. The Elliot Breast Health Center's registered nurses are Breast Health Certified by Educare, and bring a dynamic background of patient advocacy, women's health, case management, primary care, and medical-surgical experiences to our patients. Our patient service representative staff coordinates scheduling of office appointments, diagnostic procedures, and physician consultations.
