(HNPCC)
Caused by mutations in mismatch repair genes, including
MLH1, MSH2 and MSH6.
Cancer risks include:
- up to 80% lifetime risk for colon cancer
- up to 70% lifetime risk for endometrial cancer
- up to 12% lifetime risk for ovarian cancer
Look for:
- colon cancer before 50
- colon polyps before 50
- endometrial cancer
- ovarian cancer (without breast cancer)
- gastric cancer
Increased surveillance options include:
- annual colonoscopy
- endometrial biopsy
- endoscopy
