    About Us

The Elliot Hospital Pain Management Center is a multidisciplinary group of professionals committed to the compassionate understanding of patients in pain and to the scientific assessment, diagnosis and treatment of pain-related disorders. Our philosophy is that early diagnosis and minimally invasive interventional therapy substantially reduces the number of patients requiring surgery or proceeding to disability. We use all the resources available to us, including behavioral medicine evaluation and treatment, interventional and medical therapies, as well as physical therapy to restore function and quality of life to our patients.

Our Pain Management Center is unlike any other pain program in the region. We have an on-site multidisciplinary staff along with a state-of-the-art fluoroscopy-equipped interventional procedure suite. A collaborative environment between staff members, patients, families, and referring physicians allows for prompt diagnostic and treatment decisions. Additionally, we conduct ongoing outcome studies to measure how our patients have progressed and tailor treatment plans accordingly.

We were proud to receive accreditation from CARF, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilittion Facilities . . . the only Pain Management Center in New Hampshire to receive this designation.

Visits to the Pain Management Center

The Pain Management Center is open from 7:30am to 4:00 pm, Monday trhough Friday. All visits are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please phone 603-663-6730.

Patients are referred to the Pain Management Center by their physicians. Since your pain management is an integral part of your overall medical care, we partner with your physician about your diagnosis and your therapeutic plan and maintain regular communication regarding your progress.

The Pain Management Center is not a substitute for your primary care physician. Rather, we encourage you to continue with your primary care provider for overall medical treatment.

    What to Expect

After we receive the necessary information from your referring physician, we will send you forms to complete prior to your first appointment. We are committed to learning as much as we can about our patients so that we can begin to formulate a treatment plan tailored to your individualized needs. The questionnaire (link available below) asks a variety of questions including how your pain complicates your life, general medical information, and how you attempt to cope. Because we offer comprehensive pain services, it is possible, based on the information you provide, that services with other health professionals will be determined as necessary. Typically, you will be evaluated by a pain physician and nurse, and, based on your need, functional therapy, like physicial therapy, and behavioral medicine, may be scheduled.

Our goal is to work with you to develop a treatment plan that will help reduce pain, improve function, and thereby improve your quality of life.

    Your First Visit

At the first visit, you will be asked to fill out an extensive questionnaire regarding your pain, and general medical information about how you live with pain. For your convenience, acute and chronic pain questionnaires can be printed off our Web site and completed prior to arriving for your first visit

A nurse, an anesthesiologist, and a psychologist (if appropriate) will see you. Following your interview and physical exam, they will work with you to develop a treatment plan. It is possible that a treatment procedure will be done at this time. We ask that you come for your first visit with a family member or friend and an attitude of hope.
