Senior Behavioral Health

The Generations Senior Behavioral Health staff members treat people with memory problems, depression, anxiety and other emotional illnesses, as well as help patients and their families cope with aging and illness. Behavioral health professionals work closely with the patient's physician and family members as well as other healthcare providers to help them in their recovery.

Radiology

Radiology services are located on the first floor of the center are performed by Elliot Hospital Radiology staff and read by Board Certified Radiologists. Specific services of interest to seniors and their health care providers include mammography , bone densitometry , general diagnostic x-ray.

Fitness Center

The Elliot Senior Health Center features a comprehensive fitness facility, with resources selected to meet the needs of seniors. Our certified fitness specialists work with clients 50 years and older to get fit or stay fit. Services include group exercise, strength training and toning, relaxation techniques, and stretching/flexibility. The Fitness Center is open Monday-Friday from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm.

Our Certified Fitness Specialists will work with patients of all ages and abilities and design an individual workout.

Ongoing group classes include:

  • Strong and Active for Life –   Uses hand and ankle weights to improve fitness, mobility, strength, emotional well being, bone health, and to help reduce falls.
  • Strength Training/Toning – Participants will learn the proper techniques and exercises that increase muscle tone and overall body strength.
  • Stretching/Flexibility – Relieve tight muscles and learn new stretches
  • Relaxation Techniques – Relive tension and stress, by learning how to relax the entire body, mind, and spirit.
  • Fitness Center Memberships –  Exercise in a supervised environment, while meeting new people.   $65 for a 13-week membership; open to anyone 50 and over, physician release required.
  • Group Exercise Classes –   Join others who are also interested in keeping fit, in classes such as low impact aerobics, chair aerobics and chair stretching, butts and guts and yoga.  All classes are designed for every level of ability.
  • Functional Fitness Testing is now offered at the Senior Fitness Center.   The Functional Fitness Test (FFN) assesses balance, risk of falling, lower- body strength, upper-body strength, aerobic endurance, flexibility, motor ability and dynamic balance. The cost is $40 and is offered to anyone over 60. Medical Release is required. Call Elizabeth at the Senior Fitness Center to make your appointment today at 663-7012.

Senior Health and Wellness,

These gatherings, held on a regular year-round schedule are designed to help keep seniors mentally and physically fit through health education seminars and clinics. Older adults interested in participating are invited to register online . Clinics and screenings are scheduled regularly to promote senior health and wellness

Health education sessions are offered on an on-going basis. The following education seminars are offered on an ongoing basis:

  • Diabetes Self Management
  • Fall Prevention
  • Signs and Symptoms of a Stroke
  • Coronary Heart Disease
  • Medication Tips
  • Osteoporosis
  • Cholesterol
  • Healthy Heart and Lungs
  • Back Pain and Care
  • Cancer Awareness
  • Health Eating Habits
  • Proper Hydration
  • Stress Management

Health and wellness screenings are offered on a monthly basis and include: blood pressure , cholesterol and osteoporosis screenings.

Clinics offered at the Senior Heath Center include: foot care, immunizations-influenza and pneumonia, as well as ear wax removal.

The Computer Learning Center is located on the first floor of the Senior Health Center and is staffed with volunteers who offer various courses to enable more effective computer use for all levels of expertise, from beginner to advanced.

Café

Fresh, homemade baked goods and dinners are available throughout the day at the Senior Health. Daily items include: fresh-baked muffins, danish, cookies, and brownies, bagels and cream cheese, an assortment of sandwiches and salads, and a variety of soft drinks, juices, as well as coffee and tea.
