INPATIENT CARE/NURSING UNITS
Women’s Health Preoperative Patient Education Class
In order to help them better prepare for their stay, the King Unit Women’s Health Committee has developed an informational program for women with a scheduled gynecological procedure at Elliot Hospital. Patients will learn:
- How to prepare themselves before surgery
- What to expect in the first 24 hours after surgery
- Pain Management
- What potential needs may occur after discharge from the hospital
Group discussions will provide an opportunity to ask questions, discuss issues, address concerns, and relieve anxieties, as well as help women to better prepare for their surgery and understand their stay on King Unit. Patients are encouraged to bring a family member or support person to this meeting.
Classes are held on the following dates and times at the Elliot Hospital (Please follow signs from the main lobby):
Saturday, February 11 from 1-2:30pm
Monday, February 20 from 7-8:30pm
Saturday, March 11 from 1-2:30pm
Monday, March 20 from 1-2:30pm
Saturday, April 8 from1-2:30pm
Monday, April 17 from 7-8:30pm
Saturday, May 6 from 1-2:30pm
Monday, May 22 from 7-8:30pm
Registration is required as class size is limited. To register for any of these classes, please speak with your physician performing the surgery, who can provide you with more information and take care of the registration for you.
