Classes in general health education, childbirth and parenting, mind/body medicine, health and wellness screenings, and support groups are offered on a regular basis. Childbirth Education

Maternity Tour- A tour of the Maternity Center for expectant parents who are not familiar with the Elliot Hospital.  To register for a Maternity Tour please call 663-4567

Breastfeeding- Certified Lactation Consultants introduce expectant Mothers and their partners to the advantages of breastfeeding, proper techniques, and what to expect in the first few weeks at home. Further discussion includes choosing a breast pump, and collection and storage of breast milk. Spouses are encouraged to attend. Cost: $50 per couple. 6pm- 9pm (Monday night); 9am-1pm (Saturdays) Elliot at Rivers Edge

Labor Series - This Childbirth Education series prepares the expectant mother and her partner for all aspects of labor and birth. This series will include knowledge of the natural labor process, as well as a variety of coping measures, ranging from relaxation and breathing, to available medical options. A virtual tour of the Maternity Center will be included.   Schedule this class at 28-30 weeks. This series meets one night per week for 5 weeks. Comfort zone: 
Whether you choose natural childbirth or medication for comfort, the ability to relax is essential. Comfort zone includes different coping strategies, labor positions, relaxation, massage and breathing exercises. 
 Cost $ 50.

Infant and Child CPR & SafetyIn this class you will be taught Infant and Child CPR techniques as well as safety issues specific to this age group. ***THIS IS NOT A CERTIFICATION CLASS*****   Cost: $30.00 per person or $50 per couple. 6:30-9pm Elliot at Rivers Edge

Parenting Your Newborn - This class helps prepare parents for their new baby and their transition into parenthood. Parents-to-be will learn about normal newborn appearance and behaviors, procedures after birth, basic care of their newborn, and changes in life as a new parent.

Sibling ClassThis class prepares children (2 ½ -9 YRS) on becoming a sibling. They will participate in activities to learn about the baby and their new role in the family. A tour of the Maternity Center is included.
9-10:30am class 5-9 year olds.  11am – 12pm class 2 ½ - 4 year olds.  Cost: $15.00 
Please bring a favorite doll or stuffed animal to class. Meet in main lobby of the hospital.

Senior Health Fitness

All classes are for participants 50+.  Classes are held at the Elliot Senior Health Center 138 Webster Street in Manchester.  Call 663-7000 for dates, times and to register.

Senior Fitness Center Gym Membership, $25 per month   
The Elliot Senior Fitness Center is designed specifically for those 50 years and older.  The center consists of a variety of cardiovascular equipment and a full body strength training circuit.  Our team of Exercise specialists are here to help integrate physical activity safely into your life, offering one-on-one orientations and exercise programs to fit individual needs. Free group exercise classes are also offered to our members.  A large variety of additional paid group exercise classes are also available. Come work out in a safe, supervised, fun, non-competitive environment. Membership is on-going and members may join at any time.  Open Monday to Friday 6:30 AM to 4:00 PM. Gentle Yoga  Gentle Yoga is designed to promote total health and well-being through stretching, strengthening and relaxing. This class uses breath and movement to feel the release of physical and mental tension and to increase body/mind awareness. Good for the beginner level participant.$80 ($60 for Elliot employees) Mondays, 5:45pm-6:45pm

Fit & Feisty  This is a 60-minute low-impact aerobic and strength class with easy-to-follow moves.  Includes aerobics, strength training, floor exercises, chair exercises, toning, and core work.  For individuals 50+.  Instructor: Cecily Danver, $50 Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am-11am

Full Body Fusion A fusion of strength training exercises using body weight and hand-weights, cardiovascular intervals, plyometrics, yoga, Pilates, core work and stretching. Keeps your body guessing! $80 ($64 for Elliot employees) Tuesdays, 6:05pm-7:05pm and Thursdays, 6:15pm-7:15pm

Strength & Tone Start your day right with this total body workout.  Strength train all the major muscle groups and abs using a variety of exercise equipment.  This class is ideal for beginners to advanced exercisers.  $90 ($75 for Elliot employees) Wednesdays and Fridays, 5:45am-6:45am

Yoga Works for Backs Yoga provides pain relief and prevents future problems by: Improving posture and alignment, Increasing range of motion and circulation through gentle stretching and yogic breathing, Releasing tension in muscles that can cause pain,

The Welliot at River’s Edge Fitness Center consists of cardiovascular equipment, Nautilus strength training equipment, and group exercise classes. Our Fitness Specialists will design a program specific to your needs and limitations. Thriving with Yoga
Thriving with Yoga is designed especially for those with the experience of cancer. It will empower you to: relieve tension and anxiety, rebuild strength and restore range of motion, witness emotion with compassion, and manage the side effects of treatment and medications naturally.  This includes lymphedema, hot flashes, neuropathy, pain, depression and insomnia.  You may also bring a family member or friend. Please contact YogaCaps at 603-670-0302 or info@yogacaps.org to register. CPR & First Aid Certifications

Use of American Heart Association materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the American Heart Association.  Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course materials, do not represent income to the Association
Heartsaver CPR - This course is designed to target all lay rescuers (school children, family members of patients at risk for sudden cardiac death) and teach them basic life support for adults and pediatrics.  Learn the skills needed to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, and relieving Foreign-body airway obstruction (choking).  Certification and AHA Textbook received.  Reading material is sent to your prior to the class once payment is received.  Cost:  $38.00

Heartsaver First Aid - This course is designed to teach techniques to give immediate care to an injured, suddenly ill person, or someone involved in a life threatening situation.  You will also learn when to alert medical personnel.   Certification and AHA Textbook received.   Reading material is sent to your prior to the class once payment is received.  Cost:  $38.00

CPR for New or Expired Health Care Providers - The Basic Life Support  for Health Care Providers is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), and relief of Foreign-body Airway Obstruction.  Healthcare Providers include physicians, nurses, paramedics, emergency medical technicians, respiratory therapist, physical and occupational therapist, etc.  Reading material is sent to your prior to the class once payment is received.  Cost:  $63.00
