Danielle Jackitis, RN, BSN, honored with DAISY Award for Compassionate Nurses.
We are proud to announce that Danielle Jackitis, RN, BSN, of Elliot Hospital’s Fitch Unit has been named our Quarter 3 2025 DAISY Award honoree. The DAISY Award is a national recognition program that celebrates nurses who go above and beyond in delivering compassionate, skillful care.
Danielle’s nomination came from a patient’s family who witnessed her unwavering kindness and professionalism during a challenging time. Their loved one was facing advanced dementia and a stage 4 renal cell carcinoma diagnosis, which brought heightened anxiety and emotional distress. Despite these obstacles, Danielle approached every interaction with grace, empathy, and patience.
Over two difficult days, Danielle provided exceptional care, comforted the patient through severe pain episodes, calmed moments of agitation, and supported her through her first radiation treatment. She demonstrated remarkable emotional intelligence, knowing when to use humor and when to offer gentle reassurance. Her proactive approach and soothing presence gave the patient the strength to continue treatment and brought peace to a family in crisis.
The family shared, “Danielle was the earth angel that my mother-in-law needed during these difficult days. She broke through hard times with understanding, grace, and compassion. Our family could not be more grateful for the care Danielle provided. She deserves the highest praises for her kindness, compassion, and empathic nursing care.”
Congratulations, Danielle, on this well-deserved honor! Thank you for providing such impactful and compassionate care for your patients. Your dedication is a wonderful example of excellence in action here at The Elliot!
