Elliot Health System and Manchester School District Team-Up to Inspire Healthcare’s Next Generation of Professionals 

Elliot Health System and the Manchester School District are teaming up to bring the NextGen Program to the 21st Century Summer program for middle school students. This collaboration offers students an opportunity to learn more about nursing careers. 

The NextGen Program is an interactive educational experience created by Elliot Hospital’s Workforce Development Department to introduce students to essential nursing healthcare practices. The program features specialty educational sessions during which students will participate in hands-on activities and learn about:  

• Heart health and blood pressure 
• Hygiene and germ prevention 
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
• Stop the Bleed emergency response  

The program is made possible by a grant from the Norwin S. and Elizabeth N. Bean Foundation and led by a team of registered nurses employed by Elliot Health System who will provide instruction, demonstrations, and answer any questions students may have about the healthcare industry, their nursing experience and more.

Students will learn firsthand from Elliot’s dedicated team of nurses in a small group setting. It is our hope that these experiences educate them on career options and inspire them to choose nursing,” shares Rebecca Marden, RN, MSN, CNML, CPC, director of workforce development and experience at Elliot Health System.
