Since 2010, the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day has helped remove more than 20 million pounds of unwanted medications nationwide. Proper disposal is especially important for prescription pain medications, including opioids, which are among the most commonly misused drugs, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
Community members are encouraged to check their medicine cabinets and safely dispose of medications they no longer need. To find a medication dropbox near you, visit DEATakeBack.com.
