Elliot Health System Opens State-of-the-Art Cardiovascular Operating Room
Elliot Health System is setting a new standard for surgical excellence with the opening of its state-of-the-art, 1,000-square-foot Cardiovascular Operating Room. As one of the largest specialized surgical suites in New England, the new facility provides board-certified surgeons with the latest tools to perform complex procedures, such as coronary artery bypass surgery, aortic and mitral valve repair and replacement, in a space specifically designed for optimal patient outcomes.
“As Southern New Hampshire’s comprehensive provider of cardiac services, we’ve performed nearly 40 cardiac surgeries since opening our cardiac surgery program in July 2025, which is a direct reflection of the demand for highly complex heart care for our community,” said Dr. Gregory Baxter, president and CEO of Elliot Health System. “The advanced infrastructure offered through our new operating suite will enhance the confidence our patients have in our experienced clinicians and teams to provide high-quality care centered on positive surgical outcomes.”

The new, state-of-the-art suite furthers Elliot’s commitment to its mission to inspire wellness, heal patients, and serve with compassion. Tate Curti, executive vice president and COO of Elliot Health System states, “The vision for our new suite embodies a clinically driven collaboration to design the suite. By placing cutting-edge technology in the hands of our experts, we’ve secured an environment which will preserve access to heart surgery in Greater Manchester while improving the health of our patients.”
Additionally, the unit incorporates continuous disinfection technology in an in-ceiling Airframe. This air system protects the patients during procedures as well as disinfecting the room and air from common bacteria and viruses. This new technology further enhances the hospital’s already rigorous cleaning and disinfection protocols.
“Our new suite’s design is incredibly thoughtful, providing our clinicians with an environment optimized for precision and safety,” shared Beverly Primeau, vice president, surgical and diagnostic integration. “It also provides the necessary space for our surgical team to efficiently work with advanced equipment more seamlessly. Every element, from the UV disinfection grid to the state-of-the-art equipment, is intended to provide the best possible environment for our patients to begin their journey toward healing.”
