Elliot Hospital Earns Reverification as an ACS Level II Trauma Center
Elliot Hospital has been reverified as a Level II Trauma
Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), reaffirming its commitment to delivering high-quality, life-saving care to patients across Southern New Hampshire.
The hospital has proudly held this verification since 2019, advancing from its previous designation as a Level II Trauma Center in 2016. Today, Elliot Hospital remains the only ACS-verified Level II Trauma Center in Southern New Hampshire, providing critical access to advanced trauma care for the region.
“Achieving reverification from the American College of Surgeons reflects the exceptional skill, dedication, and coordination of our entire trauma team,” said Rajan Gupta, MD, MHCDS, FACS, FCCP, trauma medical director and surgical quality officer at Elliot Hospital. “This recognition underscores our commitment to delivering timely, evidence-based care for injured patients and continuously improving outcomes for the communities we serve.”
The hospital’s state-of-the-art Emergency department includes three dedicated trauma bays designed to support rapid assessment and intervention by the trauma team. When activated, this highly trained team brings together specialists from across the hospital to deliver immediate, expert care.
Serving as a regional hub for emergency care, Elliot Hospital’s Emergency department sees more than 55,000 visits annually and manages thousands of injury cases each year, including hundreds of high-acuity trauma activations. The trauma team treats a wide range of conditions, including traumatic brain injuries, fractures, and life-threatening internal injuries, with specialists available at a moment’s notice.
Elliot Hospital’s ongoing investment in trauma services — including specialized facilities, highly trained clinicians, and continuous performance improvement — supports its mission to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care.
"Access to high-level trauma care close to home can make a critical difference in patient outcomes," Dr. Gupta added. "Our continued verification ensures that patients in Southern New Hampshire don't have to travel far to receive the advanced care they need in life-threatening situations."
