From Student to Standout: How Sarah Donohue, DPT, Keeps Souhegan Valley Moving

For Sarah Donohue, DPT, becoming a physical therapist wasn’t just a career choice; it was a calling. That sense of purpose has guided her from her earliest days in the field to her work today at Elliot Rehabilitation Services at Hampshire Hills Athletic Club in Milford, where she helps patients regain not just mobility, but quality of life.

Sarah’s journey with Elliot began in December 2020 as a physical therapy student completing her clinical experience. After graduating from UMass Lowell’s Doctor of Physical Therapy program, she worked as a Physical Therapy Aide while preparing for her boards, stepping into her role as a full-time Physical Therapist in August 2021.

Her role perfectly blends her passion for sports and fitness with her interest in anatomy and health. Sarah is driven by the impact physical therapy has on patients’ daily lives and values the ability to support each person in a holistic, meaningful way. For her, the most rewarding part of the job comes down to connection. A self-described “people person,” she finds purpose in building relationships and helping patients move through some of their most challenging moments, especially when they achieve milestones they once believed were out of reach.

During her time at Elliot, Sarah has also developed a clinical interest in vestibular therapy, helping patients manage dizziness, balance disorders, and vertigo. Access to specialized resources through Elliot Rehab and the Hampshire Hills facility, including aquatic therapy and advanced equipment, allows her to tailor care to each patient’s needs. At Hampshire Hills, Sarah and her colleagues treat a wide range of patients, from children as young as eight to adults in their nineties.

Sarah now calls Pepperell, Massachusetts home, where she enjoys hiking and exploring the local community with her boyfriend. She especially loves the region’s changing seasons and strong sense of community.
