Team Member Spotlight: How Michael Arcieri Helps Patients Move Forward

For Michael Arcieri, helping patients begins long before they arrive for an appointment or procedure. As Prior Authorization Supervisor in the Access Center, he leads a dedicated team responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations for a variety of outpatient and inpatient services. While the work happens behind the scenes, Michael and his teammates know every request represents a person who is waiting for answers, planning next steps and trusting Elliot to provide the care they need.

Since joining Elliot Health System last July, Michael has found purpose in both the mission and the people.

When asked what he enjoys about working at Elliot, Michael shared, "Every day is different. I enjoy working with the team to overcome obstacles, share best practices, and find ways to improve how we do things."

That spirit of collaboration has helped his department navigate a period of remarkable growth. In just one year, the Prior Authorization team expanded from five team members to 19, adding a blend of new hires and team members who transferred from other Elliot departments.

Over the past year, Michael shared he is especially proud of the department's 20-week streak of initiating imaging authorizations within 48 hours, reflecting hard work and dedication and a shared commitment to supporting patients and service lines throughout Elliot Health System.

What Michael enjoys most about Elliot is the strong sense of teamwork and the positive environment. Whether tackling a challenging authorization, helping a colleague solve a problem or identifying opportunities for process improvement, he appreciates working alongside people who are committed to success and to one another.

While not at work, Michael loves spending time outdoors, hiking, skiing, golfing, traveling, and walking his dog, a chocolate labrador retriever named Chewie.

His advice for new Elliot team members is simple: stay flexible and remain open to learning.

"Elliot is a fast-paced environment with plenty to do," he said. "Being adaptable and willing to embrace new ways of doing things will help you succeed."

Through thoughtful leadership, a commitment to continuous improvement and a genuine focus on those Elliot serves, Michael helps ensure patients can move forward with confidence, knowing a dedicated team is working behind the scenes on their behalf.  Thank you for all you do, Michael!
