Pharmacy Technician Program

As a member of the hospital pharmacy team, the pharmacy technician student will assist with medication distribution and supply management responsibilities within the hospital. This program is designed to teach and develop the skills recognized by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and necessary for the successful completion of the national pharmacy technician certification exam. The program is a two module program; Module 1 is a six-week program including 104 hours of instruction focused on job preparation, exam preparation, and learning the hospital and/or retail environment. Module 2 is a three-week hospital pharmacy- based program that focuses on advanced hospital specific topics.  Complimenting the classroom learning, this registered apprenticeship program has 2,000 hours of paid on-the-job training.

Requirements:

  • Documentation of updated immunizations and ability to pass employee health screening
  • Commitment to work at Elliot Health System for two years after completing the course
  • Flexibility and willingness to commit to a schedule including days, nights, and weekends
