Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Rehabilitation Program

The Elliot Rehabilitation Services team is dedicated to fostering a developmentally supportive family centered experience for your infant and their family while in the NICU. We have therapists with advanced training to address your baby’s specialized needs related to a premature birth and/or medical complications surrounding their birth.

Approach

Our therapists strive to deliver compassionate care with excellence. NICU Rehabilitation treatments address a wide range of infant needs including:

  • Developmental play and strategies to ensure milestones are met
  • Range of Motion to address movement limitation or prevention of movement limitations
  • Positioning to foster optimal movement patterns and comfort
  • Therapeutic handling to decrease stress/irritability and foster self soothing behaviors
  • Containment touch/modified massage to optimize comfort and decrease stress
  • Feeding / swallowing difficulties
  • Parent education and support


Advanced Care/Expertise

Specialty trained therapists are available to assist your baby in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Pathology disciplines through the use of researched best practices in order to achieve optimal results. These team members work closely with Neonatologists, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians and Social Service staff as well as Child Life Specialists in order to deliver comprehensive and interdisciplinary care to you and your baby.
