Welcoming Dr. Qi Zheng to Elliot Hospital Cardiovascular Consultants

The Elliot is pleased to welcome Qi Zheng, MD, a cardiologist and electrophysiologist to Elliot Hospital Cardiovascular Consultants. She practices with a specialty in arrythmia disorders, and she is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and clinical cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr. Zheng is a graduate of Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, with a biochemistry degree and of Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., with a Doctor of Medicine and a Master in Health Science. She completed an internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York; a cardiology fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx; a US Food and Drug Administration medical device fellowship at the FDA White Oak Campus in Silver Spring, MD, and a clinical cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
She was previously an assistant professor of medicine and attending physician at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital/Wake Forest Medical School in Winston-Salem, NC, and an assistant professor of medicine and attending physician at UMass Memorial Medical Center/UMass Medical School in Worcester, MA.

“One amazing part about cardiology is that it is very science- and technology-driven,” Dr. Zheng says. “It’s an exciting, rewarding, complex and intellectual field with a lot of problem solving. It’s very satisfying when you can apply that knowledge and the state-of-the-art technology to make a difference in someone’s life.”

As a cardiologist, she works with her team to treat a wide spectrum of cardiovascular disease from prevention to invasive surgical procedures. As an electrophysiologist, Dr. Zheng specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of arrythmia disorders with medical therapies or procedures such as cardiovascular devices or ablation procedures.

“It’s really important for me to have a long-term trusting relationship with my patients,” she says. “I listen to their concerns and their expectations and I offer them the best of my knowledge and skills.”

Describing herself as an analytical person fascinated with data and technology, Dr. Zheng also uses her Master in Health Science and training in statistics to assess her patients’ outcomes to determine what might work best for future patients.

If she wasn’t a medical provider, she says she would have been an astronaut, archeologist or more serious mountain climber.

Dr. Zheng has hiked Mount Kilimanjaro and Machu Picchu but says – though it would be on her wish list – hiking the more technical Mount Everest is likely out of reach.

When she’s not working, she loves spending time with her family watching her two toddlers grow, as well as gardening, hiking and traveling.

Welcome Dr. Zheng!
