How Can I Get Involved?

Volunteer:

Our Child Life Volunteer Program is specifically designed for college students pursuing a degree to become a Child Life Specialist. Child Life Volunteers assist with the implementation of the Child Life Program. As a primary function of the Child Life Program, the playroom offers an opportunity for patients and families to engage in developmentally appropriate activities, while providing an opportunity for socialization. Play allows freedom of choice, fosters creativity, diverts patients from stress and worry, and normalizes their environment.

Child Life Volunteers play a key role in supporting the playroom environment. They assist with managing the space by ensuring toys are cleaned, supervising children during play, restocking and organizing resources, and helping with various Child Life Program initiatives. Volunteers may also contribute to special projects, including organizing donations and supporting holidays and events.

Child Life Volunteers typically volunteer once a week for 4-hour shifts, with available hours Monday through Friday: 7:30am-7pm (Monday-Thursday) and 7:30am-5:30pm (Friday). We require volunteers to make a minimum commitment of 100 hours.
