Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. You can visit any of our lab locations for routine blood work and specimen needs. The only exception is semen analysis testing, which must be collected at home and delivered to the Elliot Hospital Laboratory within one hour of collection, between 6:30 am and 11:30 am. To schedule semen analysis drop‑off, including fertility semen analysis, please call 603‑663‑3555. You do not need an appointment for post-vasectomy semen analysis.

In most cases, no appointment is needed. All our laboratory locations accept walk‑ins for routine testing. The only test that requires a scheduled appointment is the Glucose Tolerance Test, which can take up to three hours. Your provider’s office will arrange this appointment for you.

Fasting usually means no food or drinks—except water—for 8 to 12 hours before your test. Because fasting instructions can vary depending on the test and your health needs, we recommend checking with your provider’s office if you’re unsure.

Medication instructions can vary based on the type of test and your medical history. For the safest and most accurate guidance, please contact your provider’s office before your appointment.

Timing depends on the type of test and how long it takes to process. All results are forwarded to your provider as soon as they are ready. Critical or STAT tests are prioritized, and your provider is contacted immediately if urgent follow‑up is needed.

Most insurance plans cover lab testing performed at Elliot. Your exact out‑of‑pocket cost depends on your insurance plan. If you have questions about coverage, your insurance provider can help you understand your benefits.

Yes. Elliot accepts most major insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid.

Your provider can best explain what your results mean and what to expect next. If your provider needs clarification, they can speak directly with one of our boards‑certified pathologists.
