Dr. Quinn is a native of Peabody, MA. He performed his undergraduate medical school General Surgical training and Cardiothoracic Surgical training at Tufts University in Medford and Tufts Medical Center in Boston. He is board certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery. He practiced Cardiothoracic surgery for 18 years in Milwaukee, WI where he was medical director of the multidisciplinary thoracic oncology program at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He then moved south where he developed an aggressive program for lung cancer screening and minimally invasive robotic lung cancer surgery in Charleston S.C. He was one of the first thoracic surgeons to adopt Navigational Bronchoscopy in 2008 and then combined it with robotic surgery to help target and remove small early lung cancers in a minimally invasive way. Dr. Quinn is also actively involved in the early use of Cryoanalgesia: a nerve freezing technique designed to minimize post-operative pain and help reduce opioids usage in post-operative lung surgery patients.
Dr. Quinn believes that the patent is the most important member of the healthcare team and that educating the patient and their family members will empower them with better decision making and ultimately result in improved outcomes. In a world of rapidly evolving medical advances he believes the goal of "personalized medicine" is to appropriately utilize the best medical technology available while respecting the patients basic rights and human needs. Healing should incorporate both the cold hard facts of science and the warmth of a human touch.
Dr. Quinn is married with 2 pre-teens and 2 millennials. He enjoys hiking, skiing, reading, pets and Star Wars.
