Training and Support

Continued Education

Elliot Health System sponsors a variety of continuing education programs each year on-site for no cost. Pharmacists may receive credits for AMA CME, or ACPE programs on site.

Management Support

The Pharmacy Department welcomes ideas for the improvement and expansion of Pharmacy Services. Every team member is valued for their hands on experience in the daily execution of the medication use process. Our department has many small work groups that are continually reviewing and revising practices to evolve as patient care needs and technology changes.

Teamwork and Peer Support

Pharmacists and technicians rely on each other to communicate and explain various workflows, patient and clinical information. Pharmacists meet together weekly to review new ideas and exchange information. In between these formal gatherings, we use many methods of communication to provide clear, consistent information for continuity.

Each health system employee will participate in a day long orientation sessions to include information on benefits, parking, hospital procedures and a tour of the hospital areas. During the orientation session, employee ID badges will be issues.

The Pharmacy Department will then orient employee to pharmacy practice at Elliot Health System. Generally, six weeks of supervised orientation is provided to a newly hired pharmacist or technician. Topics included during orientation are:

  • Policies and Procedures
  • Sterile/Non-sterile compounding
  • Pediatric medication practices
  • VTE risk assessment
  • Medication Reconciliation
  • Electronic Medical Record
  • Medication Safety
  • Communication
  • Risk Management
  • Acudose Management
