The Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit (CICU) provides care to inpatients requiring continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring. The unit is located on the fifth floor and has the capacity to accommodate up to 47 patients. The unit serves patients with a wide variety of cardiac, neurological, and medical diagnoses which require close monitoring. Diagnoses may include chest pain, coronary artery disease, angina, myocardial ischemia or infarction, arrhythmia, syncope, congestive heart failure, drug or substance overdose, seizures, and sepsis. Patients undergoing cardiac catheterization, cardioversion, pacemaker, or AICD insertion are cared for on the CICU. The CICU is committed to the highest standards of quality and excellence. The team works collaboratively to create an atmosphere of healing with open and honest communication. Patients are encouraged to be involved and to participate in their care.
