The CDU is located on the first floor of the Elliot Hospital. The unit has ten private rooms. This unit is a designated area for patients who may not meet criteria for an inpatient admission but require extended monitoring or testing.
The CDU provides care to observation patients with cardiac medical diagnoses included, but not limited to, coronary artery disease, syncope, congestive heart failure, chest pain, asthma, allergic reaction, cellulitis, dehydration, syncope and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

The Clinical Decision Unit operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Family members, care partners, and visitors are encouraged to visit with patients during the day and early evening to promote healing and rest. Children under 14 years of age are permitted to visit when supervised by an adult visitor.
