The Emergency Department serves as a community resource and referral center for all regional trauma-related cases. As a reflection of its size and depth of resources, the Elliot Trauma Center is verified by the state of American College of Surgeons as a Level II program.
Our team of dedicated experts collaborates to provide optimal care for sick and injured patients at the Elliot Emergency Department. They are committed to helping patients access the appropriate level of care in a safe, timely, and coordinated manner. They guide the patient through a seamless transition between each phase of care, integrating existing resources to deliver superior evidence-based care and achieve positive patient outcomes.
The Elliot Level II Trauma Center is staffed with board certified Emergency Medicine physicians and surgeons with advanced training in trauma care. In addition, throughout The Elliot, nurses in the Emergency Department, OR, and ICU receive specialized training in trauma care and many of our nurses have achieved national recognition in Trauma, Emergency, Operative and Critical Care. Our staff keeps up-to-date on the latest advances in the care of trauma victims. In addition, the Elliot serves as the resource hospital for thirteen local Emergency Medical Service providers.
The Trauma Center staff and equipment are mobilized to expedite patient care on arrival at the Center. If necessary, the patient is taken to an Operating Room where surgical procedures are carried out.

As an ACS Level II Trauma Center, prevention and reduction of injury in our community is part of our mission. We collaborate with various community entities including schools, senior centers, and churches to provide education and resources to prevent injury.
Programs include helmet safety, seatbelt safety, car seat safety, distracted driving and walking, and Stop the Bleed education.
