Dr. Gupta is board certified in General Surgery and fellowship-trained in Traumatology & Surgical Critical Care. He earned his medical degree at the Boston University School of Medicine, Boston, MA. He then completed his residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH, and his fellowship training in Traumatology & Surgical Critical Care at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, Philadelphia, PA. Following completion of his training, he spent the subsequent 22 years in academic medicine directing Level I trauma centers and developing programs in acute care surgery. He has served on numerous regional, national, and international committees and continues to educate surgeons around the world. He joined Elliot Health in 2021 as the director of the trauma and acute care surgery.
Arina Ghaffari Schinelli, MD received her Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care, Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She earned a Medical Degree and completed her General Surgery Residency at The Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA. She is an alumnus of The Georgia Institute of Technology, holding bachelor degrees in both Applied Biology and Biopsychology.
Dr. Schinelli’s areas of surgical expertise include: Acute operative intervention in both adult and pediatric Trauma patients, Robotic and Laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery in acutely ill and elective patients, and the management of critically ill surgical ICU patients where she serves as the Surgical Director of the ICU at Elliot.
Dr. Schinelli joins Elliot Hospital’s Division of Trauma & Acute Care Surgery, bringing her experience from one of the Southeast’s busiest trauma centers to serve the New Hampshire community.
Dr. Schinelli is passionate about taking care of both the victims of trauma and their families, treating each with empathy and humanity during what may be one of the most challenging times in their lives.
When away from the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her husband and clan of four children living life to the fullest.
Dr. Jessica Niewodowski completed her undergraduate education at Widener University, where she graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in biology with a minor in chemistry. She attended medical school at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she also performed her general surgery residency. She practiced as a general surgeon in the Philadelphia suburbs for several years before pursuing further training in trauma and surgical critical care through the Christiana Health Care System in Newark, Delaware. It was there that she completed her surgical critical care fellowship in 2014.
Dr. Niewodowski has interests in providing trauma education for the community through outreach programs as well as participating in courses for both healthcare providers and laypersons. Clinically, she is honored to be able to care for both the traumatically injured patient as well as patients with general surgical disease processes, such as appendicitis and cholecystitis.
In her spare time, Dr. Niewodowski enjoys traveling with her husband, music, and spending time with her dog and two cats.
Sasha Sotirovic, MD is a member of Elliot Hospital’s Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery. Dr. Sotirovic attended medical school at the Royal College of Surgeons School in Ireland. He later went on to LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans where he completed fellowship training in Trauma and Critical Care.
Dr. Sotirovic is board certified in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and has practicing in New England since 2010. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is fluent in English, Serbian and conversational French.
Esthia K. Giakovis-Sterling, MD, FACS is American Board Certified in General Surgery. She is a member of the Society of Breast Surgeons, The Association of Women Surgeons, The Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgery. Dr. Giakovis received her Medical Degree from Ross University School of Medicine and completed her residency in General Surgery at the Hospital of St. Raphael, Yale University Affiliate, in New Haven, CT.
She practiced in Manchester, NH for many years before joining Elliot General Surgical Specialists where she specializes in all aspects of General Surgery, including Laparoscopic, minimally invasive surgery, Breast Surgery and Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy.
Dr. Giakovis is fluent in Greek.
She has been named to the Castle Connelly Top Doctor list since 2014 and NH/Castle Connelly Top Doctor list 2017, 2018, 2019.
Primary Focus of Interest: Orthopaedic Trauma, Fracture Surgery, and Shoulder Replacement Surgery
Dr. Parisien has been in practice for 10 years specializing in adult and pediatric orthopaedic traumatology and fracture surgery. He moved to NH in 2010 after being in practice in Portland, Maine for 6 years. He is a graduate of the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Residency Program and was the chief orthopaedic resident at Massachusetts General Hospital in his senior year. He did a fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s hospital finishing in 2004.
He graduated with honors from Dartmouth Medical School in 1999 and was elected to the AOA honor society. Prior to his medical career he was a professional athlete. He is a former member of the US Ski Team and competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France. He was a member of the United States Ski Team from 1987 to 1992.

A graduate of Northeastern University with a major in Athletic Training Dr. Houseman then received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following medical school, he matriculated at WellSpan York Hospital in York, PA when he completed a five year Orthopaedic Surgery residency at this central Pennsylvania Level I Trauma center. An interest in trauma surgery developed in college working as an Orthopaedic Technician on the Trauma service at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. This further developed during residency leading to acceptance at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY where he further subspecialized in Adult and Pediatric Orthopaedic Traumatology. His pediatric orthopaedic fracture management training was performed at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (Cincinnati, OH) as well as Norton Children’s Hospital (Louisville, KY) which both serve their communities as pediatric trauma centers. Following fellowship he and his family have been serving the community of Manchester for nearly 2.5yrs now, and recently as an addition to Elliot Orthopaedic Surgery Specialists.
Professional interests include complex periarticular fractures, pelvis and acetabular trauma, pediatric orthopaedic trauma, post-traumatic and acute-traumatic joint arthroplasty (replacement), reconstruction following malunion, nonunion, and post-infectious fracture management, and the treatment of the traumatized chest wall.
He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is an active member of the Chest Wall Injury Society, The Orthopaedic Trauma Association, The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopaedics.

Dr. Burdette grew up in Hooksett, NH son of a dentist and a teacher and went to high school at Trinity High School in Manchester for two years before finishing up at Holderness in Plymouth. He attended Dartmouth College and studied Geology. After college, he served two years with Teach For America in southern California teaching 7th grade Science. After a few more years, he returned to Dartmouth for medical school and then residency in plastic surgery. Prior to joining the Elliot Health System, Dr. Burdette worked at Concord Hospital from 2010 to 2017.
Dr. Burdette’s main clinical pursuits are breast reconstruction and skin cancer reconstruction. He also treats patients with burns, soft tissue tumors, congenital deformities, and injuries to the face and body. Frequently, he collaborates on complex reconstructive cases with surgeons in other specialties. His surgical interests also include cosmetic surgery to rejuvenate the eyelids, face, breasts and body.

Dr. Duprey obtained her medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2006. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She also earned her Master of Public Heath degree in 2004 from the A.T. Still University of Health Sciences School of Health Management. Dr. Duprey joined the intensivist program at Elliot Hospital in 2012 and is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care medicine. Her clinical interests include neurocritical care, end of life care, and management of severe sepsis.

Joseph Hyatt joined the Elliot Hospital Pain Management Center in 2000 after completing his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, Massachusetts. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Tufts University, Medford, MA and University of Massachusetts Medical School, Worcester, MA. Dr. Hyatt’s internship in Internal Medicine was completed at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA and his interest in pain management led to a Fellowship in Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, MA.
Dr. Hyatt’s areas of interest include spinal cord stimulators and implantable infusion pumps. He is Board Certified in Anesthesia and has added qualifications in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
