All patients are treated in a manner that ensures their privacy. Procedures are defined in a way that also ensures confidentiality of a patient's medical condition, their identity, and medical records.
We recognize the need for family support, especially when a trauma or emergency has occurred. However, there is a greater need for the unimpeded delivery of emergency services. As a consequence, our policy is that 1 to 2 visitors are allowed per patient at any one time within the Trauma Center, unless extenuating circumstances require.
If hospitalization is required, we will need to contact an appropriate physician for inpatient care. The Admitting Department will complete all necessary forms with the patient and make a room assignment.
While patients and family are waiting, the following services are available:
Please note: We request that patients do not eat or drink in the waiting area. Please do not leave the waiting area without first checking with the nurse.
When discharged from the Emergency Department, a staff member will review written instructions with patients before they leave the hospital. It is important that that patients understand and follow these instructions to help avoid repeated visits for emergency treatment.
The Emergency Department provides an initial evaluation and treatment. A specific diagnosis may not always be made at this single visit. For this reason, it is important that patients make follow-up appointments as recommended on their discharge instructions.
Elliot Hospital is committed to maintaining a SMOKE-FREE environment. The designated smoking areas at Elliot Hospital are located in the patio area outside the dining room, and at the smoking “hut” in the Emergency Department parking area.
